Is it really bad for your health if you are on anxiety medication and you drink alcohol?
I was on lexapro for anxiety before and it really helped me. I stoped taking it because my moms insurance stoped paying for it- now my anxiety only seems to be becoming more and more severe as I get older and venture farther out into the world. I am thinking of going back on lexapro again- but if I did, would I still be able to go out and party with friends? After all, the goal here is to be able to lead a normal life- I’m still not living a normal life if my anxiety is gone but my activities are restricted.

Everything in moderation. Ask your doctor what you can do to still party. Maybe there is a way for you to go off the meds when you know a party is coming and then back on them after.
Or-counseling to work out the problems?
the doctor said, if your on medication you can’t take alcohol with it. your choice.
well i certainly would call possible coma or death from this sort of activity bad.
Ok,. I’m not in favor of partying,. if it means drugs,. cancer sticks,. and drinking,. and if you’re using that stuff,. and taking lexapro,. or that drug that you said you’re taking,. no it’s not good,.
If your parents can’t afford this medication, ask your doctor’s office to help you apply for free medication. Plenty of people get their psychiatric medications free this way. You can still party, just drink coke or soda instead. Your friends will love it. You can be the official designated driver.
I can’t tell you what to do, but I can tell you that one or two drinks may not be totally harmful. However, more than that may be a different story. While on Lexapro or any antidepressant medication for that matter, alcohol use is discouraged since it does interact with the medication and can have serious effects on the body such as seizures, blackouts, and even death has been documented with this combination. If you want to know more you can always call a pharmacy and speak with a pharmacist. There are many that are 24 hours and they can explain everything to you at your convienience.
Not recommended. You have a choice, party, or feel better.
