My father has an addiction to alcohol. How can I help in this situation? I work near East Lyme, Connecticut. Are there any city or town or voluntary or professional group might help me with this?

There is a definately a AA group in that area try to reason with him and get him to go there

Call Alcoholics Anonymus—they are in every town of the U.S. But be aware that if your dad does not want to quit he’ll be angry. So talk to him first. Then call Al-Anon and find a support group near you which you can attend–because believe it or not, when one person is alcoholic in a family, the entire family is affected. Even if your dad is not ready to quit it would be a good idea if you would find a support group for yourself. In fact, they also have Al-Ateen, support groups for teenagers.
There is few ways of dealing with this. Well alcohol is not as strong as smoking i guess. Try to slowly show how much you love him and how sad you will be if anything bad were to happen to his health. Sometimes before trying something intense you should try motivating and making him understand. If that doesnt work then try controling his alcohol intake abit by abit or divert his whole attention into something else like talk with your mum and get her to seduce him more because mostly alcohol addicted people have high sexual desires.Find out besides alcohol what motivates him more once you get the answers you can use it to divert his attention. Trust me alcohol addiction is nothing compare to nicotine addiction. hope that helped.
