college makes students have anxiety which leads to them drinking alcohol.

how would you operationally define “anxiety”
and “student alcohol use” ?

My friend told me that a lot of doctors have started prescribing alcohol to treat social anxiety disorder. He says he has a prescription for bacardi rum and that is why he is always drinking it. Is this true or is he pulling my leg?

Has anyone ever drank alot, and i mean alot, and then had a anxiety attack the next day? Do you think the after effects of alcohol and alot to do with having the anxiety attack?

If i know in advance that i am getting alcohol i sometimes get really nervous and my heart rate goes up and then i cant sleep and its annoying!
anyone else have this problem ? how do you deal with it?

I’ve been anxious since I was a child, I have been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder but I am not seeking therapy for it now. What are alternative therapies for it? And do poor habits like drinking too much alcohol make it worse?

After developing anxiety a few years ago, I found that drinking (or the morning after) always left me with severe panic attacks. I have no desire to get drunk, but to this day I am still scared to have more than a beer or two. How do I know if my body will react the same as it did when I had panic attacks due to alcohol?

Alcohol & Anxiety?

I understand that anxiety can be increased by drinking but what i dont understand is that i thoguth it was teh day after or something. I start to get more anxious the moment i start drinking and i need to drink alot for the anxiety to subside. then when it wears of it begins again. its like alcohol triggers anxiety the moment i start drinking.

Suggestions?

We might live in 2008 but the stigma attached to Addiction and Alcoholism and Depression is still very much alive. Addiction of Alcohol is not new but the consequences still have to be dealt with. The anxiety of the afterlife post-treatment is a reality we all have to face. I mean, who wants the guy in the credit department to know that you have not been on leave but in a rehab? That nosey next door neighbour? Do we really want him knowing your greatest weaknesses? What about that prim and priss Church congregation member who does not even like the colour of your Sunday ties? They all might have suspected something was wrong when you were passed out on the front porch at 2 o’clock in the afternoon but they did not have the nitty-gritty.. But to come clean and announce to the world that you a recovering addict. Not an easy one.

Anxiety attack is the condition caused by an abnormal response to external stress that in turn, effects biological changes in the body. People that suffer from these attacks and related physical symptoms may feel as if they are going to have a heart attack, suffocate or pass out at times. Stress related triggers can cause unwelcome symptoms, and scary side affects that in reality, are not life threatening to the person who experiences them.

The basic cause of an attack is related to an imbalance in neurons in the amygdala area of the brain. This part of the brain deals primarily with processing emotional reactions in association with human memory functions. While the condition may seem complicated to deal with, there are several natural treatments for anxiety that have proven to be successful on alleviating these physical symptoms for many people who suffer with extreme episodes.
