I’ve been anxious since I was a child, I have been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder but I am not seeking therapy for it now. What are alternative therapies for it? And do poor habits like drinking too much alcohol make it worse?

I dont drink very much, maybe once every week to two weeks, but i just got back from vacation with a bunch of friends for 5 days and i was usually drunk by 11am and would stop drinking at 2 or 3 am. Is it possible that i’m feeling alcohol withdrawal after this vacation even though i only drank for a few days?
I recently decided to stop drinking because I drink way too much. I’m a guy, 23 years old, 220 pounds. I drink 3-4 days a week. And when I drink, I normally have about 13 drinks. Sometimes less, sometimes a little more. I have been drinking like this for 2 or 3 years. It hasn’t interferred at all with my daily functions. I want to stop drinking for health reasons.
Recently I’ve been having some heart palpatations and anxiety. My doctor says this is due to me having mitral valve prolapse, but I haven’t told him about my drinking habits.
I quit drinking alcohol a week ago. Last week I detoxed the shit out but I still feeling sluggish, depressed and I suffer from daily headaches. I have lots of alcoholic friends so I know all about withdrawal symptoms and risks. I got past the detox stage and now am staying clean. BUT, my old drinky-buddies are not with me now which is good cuz they still drink. I need help.
Is there a vitamin or something to help me with cravings and these ill feelings? I refuse medication and I refuse to go to meetings unless it’s online. Any resources would be of great assistance. Thanks in advance.

Think about all of the people that it’s cut from your life and think about how great it will be take care of yourself and rekindle old friendships and to rebuild burnt bridges. Choose a specific date to quit. If you can, make it a significant date, something that will remind you of why you are quitting. I decided a month ago that I was going to reduce my alcohol consumption to nothing over a period of one month. I was regularly drinking between 13 and 16 beers a day everyday for going on 3 years. I reduced 1 beer about every 3 days until I was at 0 at the end of my month. I felt ok for the first 2 days on 0 but now after 4-5 days the anxiety is really bad along with ringing ears (more than normal for me) and trouble thinking. I feel like I am in a fog all the time! I was hoping that cutting down over the month would help to avoid any withdrawal but I don’t think it eliminated it altogether. Are the symptoms I am referring to normal in my situation and how long can I expect to have them. Thanks for the input.
