Question by 0759890: How long will it take me to detox from alcohol?
I am trying to quit drinking and am wondering how long it will take. I am sick of the effects of alcohol and I was up to 6 or 7 12 oz beers at night only.

I never drank anything but beer. I have been drinking regularly for a year now. Thoughts? I have Xanax ready for withdrawals because I have started feeling sick already after night one. There have been certain nights I would binge. Thanks.

Question by Sunny: If someone is used to drinking an obscene amount of alcohol how long will it take for them to be?
stabilized without it in in a hospital setting?

By obscene amount, I’m talking about up to 1/2 a gallon of vodka a day (yes, I’m serious). They have drank this way for years. They are not hospitalized for alcoholism.

The person in question is receiving meds and vitamins etc. to help through the withdrawal, but how long till the withdrawal (physical) of alcohol becomes a non factor in their treatment?
LOL it’s not me. I drink a lot, but not nearly that much!

I have consumed approx. 3 beers a day, over the past 14 years. I am 39 years old, 175 lbs. I have minimized the negative consequences of my daily consumption of 2-4 beers a day. However, I have tried quitting before, and experienced mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms.
I have not drank alcohol in 8 days. I am very determined to quit drinking alcohol. With that being said, i am wondering how long I can expect to have withdrawal symptoms such as feeling mentally exhausted and irritable?

I’m talking like for a serious alcoholic…
This person is currently in the hospital and not had any alcohol in several days, not sure exactly how long. But he’s already almost died once, over the weekend, but now they are saying the same thing again that he may not make it through the night tonight.

I quit drinking in November and was in the hospital because i was withdrawing really badly. The doctor said I was alcohol dependent. He said it would take three weeks to withdraw from the alcohol. Anyways, I slipped up and had some drinks in January and February and still managed to have withdrawals symptoms. I still had the really bad anxiety and confusion like right before i stopped drinking. So how long does it take to not have withdrawal symptoms??

How long does irritability and anxiety last once you stop drinking alcohol.

I’ve been drinking lots of beer for 15 years and recently have been drinking almost daily this past year.

I noticed i get irritable and anxious when I’m not drinking.

What can i expect when I quit?
