Vivid dreams/nightmares on alcohol withdrawal?
I’m an alcoholic, currently trying to stop drinking. Since not drinking, I have been having really vivid dreams/nightmares that wake me up in the middle of the night. They started on my second night of not drinking, and I have been sober a week now. Is this normal? Has anyone else had dreams/nightmares withdrawing from alcohol?
Please help, it’s driving me crazy.

You need to talk about this to your octor and get medication as the body reacts like this to withdrawal from substance abuse like alcohol or drugs.
Yes, nightmares and vivid dreams are symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and usually subside within a five day period. Sometimes withdraw symptoms can last weeks but if you start experiencing tremors, severe vommiting, or delirium seek medical help immediately.
Not sure if you’re still looking for answers but yes I get them to. In fact that’s why I’m posting this right now cause I just woke up from a nightmare screaming. I haven’t even quit yet but I cut back so severly that I have them if I don’t drink myself to sleep and I CAN’T STAND IT EITHER!!!!! But I hate the answer…go to the doctors but I’m not sure if there is anything else to do besides rehab. I hope they stop happening to you!
