When you drink alcohol you're putting something in your body that it was never meant to have in it. It kills brain cells. It kills other cells that regulate other systems like the hormone system hence the anxiety. You want an easy answer? Stop it! If you think it's bad now just keep it up for another 5 yrs. You may not be dead but you'll sure feel like it. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If there are 16 ounces in a pound then it is 16 times easier to prevent your symptoms than to get rid of them. While you're not buzzed think about it. If the people you have "fun" with can't accept your not drinking it may be time to find new friends. Good luck

Alcohol lowers blood sugar, so you may be having hypoglycemic attacks. These can mimic anxiety but also bring about anxiety. Alcohol also interrupts sleep (particularly, REM sleep), so not being able to sleep makes sense I guess too.
